Looks like a busy year ahead.

We already have people booking for tours in July this year. I have a great feeling it will be a busy summer. We are still hardrock mining on our days of and it is paying off. I hope to see all of you this summer, the water should be warm and low so we can get deeper in the creek, hopefully to some bigger gold. See you this summer.

Easter Vacation

Had lots of customers this week. We had a few decent little pockets of gold and everyone got to take home a little bit of gold this week. We never got the winter or spring floods but we got to explore a few areas we had put off. This summer will be questionable with the water levels but if we dry up we at least still have the quartz vein we found last year with gold running thru it. We will get out the jack hammers and drills and see how deep we can go. The pocket of crystalline gold a few weeks ago was incredible. Hoping to have time this week to get back up there to hit another pocket. Have a great week.

crystaline gold

Finaly hit a nice little pocket of crystaline gold, about 2 ounces or so. After all of that work to get to this spot I can finaly say it was worth it.

crystaline gold

Finaly hit a little pocket of crystaline gold. Only a few penny weight but at least I finaly picked up the leed again.

Just a little bit of hardrock mining.

Here is the cut I have been trying to work this winter. This is a dike between the native rock and contains pockets of crystaline gold. I hit 9 pockets 5 years ago but due to the local unedcutting the area, most of the workabke area had been caved in, getting back to it is difficult, excavators are too wide but we have tried. Just picked up a large jackhammer and should be able to move more material. Will post some pictures when I hit a pocket again. The pockets run 1-1.5 ounces each and are typicaly about 3-6 feet from each other on a 15 degree downward slope.

Busy week ahead

Going to be a busy week. A customer called wanting to buy a mining claim. I just sold a five claim block and a 17 acre claim. Total of 397 acres. He wanted an easy access claim so I had to survey on of the claims I have to see what amount of gold was there. Every pan had 3-10 specs of gold then I hit one area that was showing about $50.00 per yard. The dilema now is how to price such a rich claim and to see if this area is containing over 100 yards of rich gravel or if it is spotty. 2 groups of customers are going to do a 2 and 3 day course then the excavator is showing up at the hardrock mine finaly.

Opening up the old diggings.

Excavator work to be done this week. I am hoping to get back into the crystaline vein I worked 5 years ago. We ar going 20 feet below the surface and will have to do a little blasting but if the gold still runs 3-6 feet apart from each pocket, it should be a good start to february. We will be giving classes once we have the area safely open. It is hammer chisles and picks ao it will be hard work and unlike typical hard rock mining. Will keep you all updated.

update

Currently trying to sell some of the extra mining claims ans clearing the dead trees from the creek. Working a little bit of hard rock areas in hopes of hitting the gold producing vein I worked 5 years ago. Weather has been nice and the creeks are looking good. Need to get the boat fixed and sample some of the Woods Creek ravines that I have claimed, they should be good by what I have found on the lower parts.

Tresspassing

It has been in interesting year. Still no dredging, more regulation and not enough rain. It has been a hard few years for placer miners and it is not going to get any better, more regulation and anti mining groups are out in force and as the state seeks more revenue expect some sort of fee to be enfoced for some mining activities. This year obama included a change in fee structure for your mining claims. How it was put in the defense bill I have no clue but there it is, more money to pay for less service.

Update

It has been a long month fixing broked equipment, I rebuilt the trommel and it finaly looks like it will work for more than an hour. The tractor is running rough but it will have to do for now. Have been sampling Peoria Flat and found a few small pockets of flakes. 10-25 flakes or so. I have worked the old tailings with mixed results. Sometimes we will pull a gram or less in 5 hours while other times we pull a dwt or so. Most of the pieces are smaller flakes while once in a while we get a 1/4 gram nugglet.
